Ingredients
- 12 slider buns or soft dinner rolls, sliced in half
- 1 (28-ounce) can petite diced tomatoes, drained well
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella–provolone blend (or just mozzarella), divided
- 1 cup diced pepperoni slices (about 3 ounces)
- 1½ cups cooked crumbled Italian sausage (about 8 ounces raw)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley (or Italian seasoning)
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Prep the buns. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and place the bottom halves of the slider buns inside.
- Make the sauce. In a medium bowl, stir together the drained tomatoes, garlic, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Spread evenly over the buns.
- Layer the fillings. Sprinkle with 1 cup of cheese. Add pepperoni, sausage, and the remaining cheese. Place the top halves of the buns over everything.
- Make the buttery topping. In a small bowl, mix melted butter with garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley. Brush over the tops of the buns, then sprinkle with Parmesan.
- Bake. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 5 minutes, until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melty.
- Serve. Let cool for 5 minutes, then pull apart and serve warm.
Tips & Variations
- Make it veggie: Swap the sausage for sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or bell peppers.
- Extra saucy: Warm up some marinara on the side for dipping.
- Cheese swap: Try provolone, cheddar, or even a little fontina for extra melty goodness.
Storage & Make-Ahead
- Fridge: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat covered in the oven at 350°F until warmed through.
- Freezer: Assemble through step 4, cover tightly, and freeze up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight before baking as directed.
